Maintenance/ Support Engineer – PowerGen (Dublin)

Within our Power Generation & Utilities business, we deliver large-scale critical infrastructure projects that transform the reliability, availability, and efficiency of the energy network moving it towards a greener, more sustainable future. Projects include:

  • High-Efficiency centralised power plants in hyperscale data centres
  • Large-scale flexible peaking plants providing grid support when renewables are not available
  • Embedded renewables
  • National Utility projects to meet ambitious sustainability targets.

We are currently seeking an experienced (3+ years) maintenance engineer to support various electrical/mechanical plant and related control & protection systems at NeoDyne customer sites, including but not limited to:

  • Standby Power Generation (Diesel Gensets & Open Cycle Gas Turbines)
  • Prime Power Generating Plants (Large scale CCGT and factory-embedded CHP plants)
  • High & Medium Voltage Substations
  • Fuel Forwarding/Distribution Systems (in Data Centres, Rail, and Fuel Storage facilities)
  • Complex Power/Energy Managements System within high-value manufacturing facilities

Most maintenance & support work will be based in the Dublin region, however travel to customer sites around Ireland will also be required.

Primary Responsibilities/ Duties

Depending on role and experience:

  • Assisting in the production of maintenance plans & procedures for systems supported by NeoDyne
  • Organising and executing routine maintenance checks of equipment at customer premises in line with agreed maintenance contracts
  • Reporting on issues, performing root cause analysis, implementing repairs & improvements in consultation with customers
  • Troubleshooting issues with PLCs, HMIs/SCADAs, Protection Relays, VSDs, Network Switches, Engine Controllers, Synchronisers etc.
  • Organising sub-contractors and specialists where relevant to carry out work at customer sites
  • Organising and participating in shutdown activities at Power Stations in conjunction with other NeoDyne engineering disciplines
  • Attending emergency call-outs to critical customers where these agreements are in place, typically in <4 hours. This will be on a rota basis with other staff.
  • Participating in commissioning activities for NeoDyne projects on occasion

Qualifications, Skills/ Experience

  • Level 5/6 Qualification in a relevant Engineering discipline, or National Craft Certificate with suitable experience
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in similar role
  • Experience and familiarity with Control Systems, Safety Systems, Instrumentation, Electrical Switchgear and Generators
  • A high level of computer proficiency, ideally with experience using PLC programming software
  • Direct experience in operating or maintaining Power Generating Plants, Standby Power Systems or Electrical Infrastructure would be beneficial but not essential, as full training will be provided.
  • Full Driving Licence, and availability to travel to NeoDyne customer sites throughout Ireland
