NeoDyne carries out insulation co-ordination studies to confirm that the proposed surge arrester types and locations will adequately protect substations from flashover due to lightning strikes and switching surges. We complete this analysis using methods outlined in application guides IEC 60099 and IEC 60071.

We use ATP-EMTP time domain-based transient software to determine the voltage stresses throughout the station during surge events.
